Why do I pay so much?

[The WCWAA is a non-profit organization.  We do our best to keep fees down.  Other than a annual grant from Union County, we get no municipal monies.  And it is expensive to run a sports team.  We must furnish uniforms, balls, safety equipment, pay umpires/referees, electric bills for the lights, keep the grass cut, it all adds up.]

I have a complaint about my child's coach.

[All of our coaches are volunteers who are donating their free time to coach.  It is always best to speak to the coach privately after the game is finished.  If you cannot resolve the problem with the coach, please contact the age group commissioner or the sport director.  Refer to this web site for contact information]

Why don't you pave the parking lot?

[It's just too expensive.  We have had the work quoted and it would cost over $250,000  to pave all roads and parking areas. ]

I want to make a donation-how?

[There are many ways to donate.  Please see our sponsorship page  One way is to sponsor your child's team.  That will allow you to publicize your business and help your child.  Talk to your coach or the sport commissioner.

You can donate goods or services as needed.

You can make a donation to the park expansion.  We can earmark your donation to go towards the sport of your choice.

Who runs the park?

[This gets complicated.

The Weddington Optimist Club (a civic club) owns the existing older section (19 1/2 acres) of park.  They did part of the early field development, but now mostly hold youth oriented activities, such as their Easter Egg Hunt.  Click here for more information about the Weddington Optimist Club

The WCWAA bought 34 more acres in 2001.

The WCWAA operates all sports programs at the park.  The WCWAA is governed by an elected Board of Directors.  In addition, each sport has its own directors and commissioners.]
