Parents, Friends, and Community Members –
We are asking each family and business owner in the community to help fund our Turf Replacement Campaign.
In the fall of 2021, we replaced the original artifical turf field at Weddington Optimist Park, and re-built the retaining wall. We did this to provide a safe playing surface for our youth. The total project cost was $325,000, and we had to take out a loan to help fund the total project.
100% of the donations made as part of this effort will go towards the Turf Replacement Campaign to pay down the 7 year loan.
This field has been an important part of our community and we need to work together to keep it safe for our children. Any donation you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. WCWAA is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
All businesses and families who give $5,000 or more to the Turf Replacement Campaign will be listed on a Thank You Board in front of the field.
The cost of this project was $325,000. We are off to a strong start - through April 30, 2022, we have raised $136,363. While we are ahead of schedule, we still need to raise another $189,000 to pay off the loan.
Our goal is to raise another $30,000 per year:
