2021 SOFTBALL SUMMER

SKILLS CAMPS

Welcome to the Summer 2021 WCWAA Skills Camps!  Our goal as Coaches and Board Members of the league is to continue to provide growth and learning opportunities for ALL players, no matter their level!  Whether they want to try pitching or catching for the first time, learn more about playing first base, or work On hitting drills they can take home to practice with mom and dad, or even just learn more about the game in general, we want to provide that opportunity in one hour sessions, all summer long! 

Run by our AMAZING coaches who continue to volunteer their time, many of these names and faces will be familiar to you!  We also have some players coming in from different softball travel leagues to share their time and talent with younger players.  

These camps are open to sign up for one or many with pricing below: 

• Drop in: $10 cash (give to coach) 
• Book ahead for discount (pay here: <insert link>)
  • 5 Sessions: $45
  • 10 Session: $90 
  • Unlimited (sign up for any session all summer): $125

STEP 1 -- Go to Sign Up Genius to see the dates of times of sessions being offered; new sessions are updated as available. 

STEP 2 -- After you select your sessions on Sign Up Genius, come back to the WCWAA site to pay for your sessions.

ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TOWARDS WCWAA FIELD IMPROVEMENTS WITH AN ULTIMATE GOAL OF A NEW WCWAA BRANDED SCORE BOARD!!!

New sessions will be added throughout the summer and an email for these updates will be sent when added for first come/first sign up opportunities! 

Skill Camp Opportunities Include:

Beginning Hitting: Recommended for 6U and first time 8U to learn strike zone, batting stance, appropriate form, base running

Beginning Fielding: Recommended for 6U and first time 8U to introduce the different fielding positions, where to throw the ball, "softball ready!" form, how to get an "out"

Beginning Pitching: Recommended for all first time pitchers who want to learn the basics of the form from holding the ball, stance on the mound, and motions of the pitch to practice at home (must bring a catcher - mom/dad/brother/sister/etc.)

Intermediate Hitting: Recommended for advanced 8U on up; hitting off kid pitch, continue to work on hitting form and drills, base running and stealing, bunting, and sliding!

Intermediate Fielding: Recommended advanced 8U on up; for those who want to learn more about specific positions (first base, second base, short stop, third base, pitching, outfield) and the unique requirements for each so they're ready to play in a game!

Intermediate Pitching: Recommended for those who have pitched before to work on speed, form, and additional drills for a more efficient pitch  (must bring a catcher - mom/dad/brother/sister/etc.)

Catching: We are working on launching our first camps specific to those who want to learn how to be a catcher!  As such a critical position for softball, we want to ensure we're training girls on proper position, framing the ball, how to block with their gear, and throwing down to 2nd base

Advanced fielding and hitting: Working on providing a session where advanced 10U, 13U and above can scrimmage and work through situations with coaches in older programs
